SURVIVOR’S REMORSE CLUB is where my intellect meets my artistic creation. It’s a space where my traditional hands- on techniques fuse with AI-free digital media. I’ve always valued navigating a collection of ideas based on themes, color palettes, visual textures, and organizing them as a collaboration between my mental and the consumers. Trying to hold onto traditional -minimalist art styles made by hand, while also expressing a love for new growth into using digital media. Even as exploring digital mediums, my heart remains committed to preserving that gratifying feeling of my paint brush circling the bottom of a room temp cup of water.
For me, the process of innovation will forever be as importing as the finished product.
I’m a Durham, NC native who was already entering my artistic journey as early as sixth grade, at Durham School of the Arts which continued through my pursuit of my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from North Carolina Central University. My mindset at the time revolved around the statement, “I don’t know what I‘m supposed to do, I just know how to make art.” I just knew I wasn’t one of the chosen few who stepped straight into their career field fresh off the graduation. Instead, I maneuvered through customer service jobs, but after that phase I ventured into self-employment as a Black woman building a business as a muralist and commission painter. I eventually fell back in line with the rest of the world trying to survive the pandemic, I reverted back to prioritizing stability, and dependable health benefits over my attachment to art.
Long story short here I am in my 30s giving myself full dedication and confidence in my artwork and giving it the energy and consistency in a space it deserves. I’m pushing pass the overthinking, hesitation, procrastination and boundaries set for myself because I know my art deserves to be shared.
My work can spark curiosity, bringing a sense of joy, creating visual harmony, and transfigure a space by capturing a state of mind or sensation.
My love for bringing a consumer’s idea to life or creating a piece that a consumer never realized they were looking for gives me that satisfying drive.
SURVIVOR’S REMORSE CLUB is a representation of the journey of surviving, evolving, and giving yourself permission to purse what is already living within.
